Born and raised in neighboring West Virginia, Mr. James E. Halstead, III completed his undergraduate studies at the Univerity of North Carolina at Charlotte earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Mr. Halstead began his career in the Lake Norman area of North Carolina at the small boutique firm of Ladd, McCall CPAs. From this position Mr. Halstead held such positions as controller and senior tax accountant for several medium to large corporations such as Prime Source, Cato Corporation and SPX Corporation, all in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.

In 2003, Mr. Halstead started his own practice providing CPA services to individuals and small to medium sized business in the Lake Norman area.

In 2009, a Charlotte-based CPA firm purchased Mr. Halstead's client base and, subsequently, Mr. Halstead relocated to the Rocky Mount, Virginia area to open a new practice focused on providing excellent customer service and providing individuals and businesses in the Smith Mountain Lake and Greater Roanoke areas competent, professional tax advisory and compliance services.

Prior to Mr. Halstead's undergraduate studies, he spent four years enlisted as a United States Army Ranger with 1/75th Ranger Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia. Mr. Halstead was awarded the coveted Ranger tab upon graduation of the U.S. Army Ranger school in 1991.

Mr. Halstead is licensed as a certified public accountant in both Virginia and North Carolina and is a member of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce
